Be Wild Be Free is led by Kelly Murphy, an outdoor educator with more than 20 years of experience working across outdoor centres and schools in the UK, Europe, and New Zealand. Kelly's approach to outdoor learning is shaped by a lifelong connection to nature — one that began on childhood school trips to outdoor centres, where she first discovered the excitement of wild spaces. It was during those early adventures that her love for rock climbing took hold, quickly growing from a hobby into a passion and, eventually, into a career dedicated to helping others experience the same sense of freedom and confidence.
Alongside her professional journey, Kelly is also a mum of two, and her family life is deeply intertwined with her love of the outdoors. Together, they seek out adventure in everyday moments — from exploring local woodlands to discovering hidden corners of familiar places — and eagerly await school holidays to let the adventures grow further. Watching her children interact with nature, care for the environment, and find joy in the wild world around them continues to inspire her work and reinforce her belief that everyone belongs outdoors.
Kelly's leadership blends technical expertise with empathy, creativity, and a strong commitment to safety and inclusivity. Whether she's teaching essential outdoor skills, supporting young people as they push past their comfort zones, or guiding adults to reconnect with nature, she brings warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for empowering others.
Under her direction, Be Wild Be Free has become a place where people of all ages can explore, grow, and build a lifelong relationship with the natural world — one adventure at a time.
